New Years Resolutions

Wondering why this is so late? It was originally posted on my patreon- subscribe here!

Hello darlings!

It's a new year and I, as I'm sure many of you are, am planning to better myself.

As I get older (I’m reaching a quarter of a century this year!) with special occasions gradually losing their lustre, I must admit that I still get very excited by New Years. Not the actual event mind you; you’d be lucky to find me awake on that fateful midnight. No, I like the glittering promise of a new beginning. The time to reflect, organise and, most importantly, make resolutions!

I love me a resolution. I know that these are often impulsive and short-lived, but as I read in a very inspiring post recently, that doesn’t make them any less worthy. If your gym visits drop off after a few weeks, at least that shows that you want to better yourself! If you start journaling but can only keep it up for the first few months then that inspiration hasn’t gone to waste. Any amount of motivation, no matter how fleeting, is never squandered.

I say all of this in an attempt to reassure myself. Almost every year I try to start a journal and they generally last until around May before I start to drop off. And I’m sure I’ve put ‘respond to messages quicker’ on my resolutions for at least the past five years.

Saying this, here are my resolutions for Perfect Little Parcel this year– the thing about having your own business means that your professional resolutions get tied up with with your personal ones, so not all of them are strictly business related.

2023 Resolutions:

  • Build better habits

  • Exercise more

  • Respond to messages more quickly (again- this year’s gonna be the year, I can feel it)

I know that many of these seem vague, but I do have a plan for how to execute them. 2023 is going to be the year of building habits– that phrase didn’t really mean much to me before, and it may not mean much to you. But after reading a lot of self-help/business books in the past year the phrase has taken on a whole new meaning. Apparently, when left to your own devices, you pretty much do the same thing every day. That’s why habits are so important, because once they’re ingrained they just become a part of your daily schedule.

So, in my pursuit of building better habits, I’m going to pick a new ‘habit’ to build every month. According to the experts, it takes 30 days to build a habit, so monthly should be perfect. And if I don’t do so well on my new habit during one month, it can just roll over onto the next.

To get myself to post on Instagram more, I’ve scheduled in half an hour every Monday to plan all of my posts for the week.

As for exercise, I got into quite a good habit of doing yoga in the past year, but I would quite like to walk more. You know, actually go outside– something that I desperately need to do more often. Maybe that should be its own separate resolution next year. Anyway, for January I’m going to go for a walk at least once a week, slowly building that over the next few months until I’m going out for walks at least three times a week– hell, maybe even five times. Let’s see how it goes.

To try and get myself to respond to messages quicker, I’m going to try and set a 30 minute timer every time I get a message and by the time it runs out I have to respond to the message. I hate my phone buzzing at me and annoying me, so maybe I can irritate myself into responding to messages.

Some of these might not come to fruition, but I’m trying and currently very pumped up about this ‘new me’ that I’ve envisioned, so that’s the most important thing.

As for my plans for the new year, I have big plans on redecorating my space so it’s pretty enough to be filmed in, which can then be followed by my next big plan– reinvigorating my YouTube! I haven’t ever really made YouTube videos before, but I already have the channel so I can’t really call it ‘starting’ a YouTube, even though that’s basically what I’m planning on doing. I also want to start working on a book this year. I’ve had the plans in my head for a long time now, and I kind of had the realisation last year that I’ll never get it done if I don’t actually start it. So that’s what I’m doing this year. Starting it. Oh! More tutorials too. Lots and lots of tutorials, if everything goes to plan.

So that’s my plans for 2023. This post was a little bit off-brand and rambly, so thank you so much for reading if you’ve made it to the end! Do you have any exciting plans for the new year? Any resolutions? I’d love to hear them if you do!

Until next time,

Aisha x
